The Best Coffee in the Universe--and a Giveaway!

Tuesday, July 15, 2008

I had the best coffee in the universe this morning. No joke--it was the best cup of coffee (or three) I've ever had! I am now a huge fan of Peanut Butter Cup flavored gourmet coffee from Higher Groundz. Knowing that it was flavored coffee before I tried it, I was on alert for chocolate and peanut butter flavors, and although I could taste them they were subtle. If I hadn't known what I was drinking, I doubt that I would have picked up on them. This tastes like just darned fine coffee!

You've got to try this, even if you aren't a fan of flavored coffee. The generous folks at Higher Groundz have given me a 1/4-pound bag of ground deliciousness to give away. To get yours:

1. You must have a mailing address in the United States, and you must supply me with your mailing address if you're the winner.
2. Post a comment here, telling us your favorite thing to do with peanut butter.
(This is a family blog, so keep it family-friendly!) Make sure you include a link of some sort with a way to contact you in your comment.
3. Earn an extra entry by blogging about this giveaway, posting a link back here, and leaving a comment alerting me to your post.
4. Your comment(s) must be posted by midnight (Eastern U.S. time) Tuesday, July 22, 2008.

On Wednesday, July 23, I'll use that nifty randomizer.org thingie to choose a number, and if that number corresponds to your comment, you too can enjoy the best coffee in the universe!

My favorite thing to do with peanut butter is making allergy free treats for my one-eyed rescue dog. My dog has wheat and corn allergies and it's very hard to find training treats that he can eat so I made up my own recipe using oatmeal flour and peanut butter. Blitzkrieg loves them! So I named them Blitzkrieg Bites.

My favorite thing to do with peanut butter is to take a big square of dark chocolate and use it scoop the peanut butter out of the jar and eat it.

When I was young, I used to like to pour milk into the peanutbutter jar and mix it all up, then my parents got really angry at me for doing that.

I like to put a heap of PB in a bowl, squirt maple syrup on top, mix, and eat with a spoon. I've done that since I was a kid. It is AMAZING even if people think it's weird! LOL

My brother used to do the PB and maple syrup thing. He used to eat it with a spoon too! I've tried it, and I like it, just not as much as he did!

My favorite thing to do with PB? I like to eat it on apples, sprinkling some raisins on top. YUM!

You do realize that flavored coffees were created by the industry back in the 1990s for people who did not like coffee -- and the industry strategized them as a way of luring new coffee drinkers out of the teenagers who were loyal to flavored soft drinks...

My favorite thing to do with peanut butter is to make peanut butter cookies.. Okay that sounds lame, but I do a little extra. I get the un cooked cookies on the pan and put a blob of peanut butter on each one and cover it with more dough so they are peanut butter filled peanut butter cookies.
I found this recipe in a cookie cookbook of my mom's around Christmastime and I was just learning to read. These cookies were called double peanut butter cookies and were on the cover of a particular section of the book called teen winners (which I suspect was a section of cookies that teens like) anyway I thought the actual name of the cookies were teen winners.

Whenever my mom makes those cookies, she'll call me up and say, "Melanie, I made some teen winners." She thinks it funny. It must have been so cute when it happened, though.

Oh, my gosh, there are so many. I guess I will choose to add it to a hot fudge sauce to pour over ice cream.

Well, my favorite thing to do with peanut butter, that's family friendly, is to eat it of course; JIF Extra Crunchy--in PB&J sandwiches, in double peanut butter cookies, in peanut butter fudge.

But Peanut Butter is very utilitarian and if you are trying to catch a mouse or mice in traps--anywhere there be mice, peanut butter is effective bait.

If you're trying to lose weight, eat more peanut butter. Apparently, eating peanut butter produces chemicals in your body that kick in weight loss hormones. Which explains why as a kid I was so skinny because ALL I ate were PB&J sandwiches.

I love coffee, I want to win, I drop on this blog every day. So even if I'm not the random number drawn, I think you need to send me the coffee anyway. ;)

You know where to find me, If I win, post a comment on my blog with your email address and I'll send all the info you need to get the coffee to me.

Thanks and have an awesome day.

PS--I love re-enactments of that old Reese Peanut Butter Cup commercial, where hershey's chocolate bars somehow end up in a jar of peanut butter.

MMMMMMM....

Oh, and IF I win, I'll share my peanut butter s'mores recipe with you.

Cheers!
